After almost two days of deliberation, Croatian Veterans Affairs Minister Mijo Crnoja was not dismissed, instead he decided to resign on January 28, 2016.
We cannot exactly say this news surprised anyone, the only thing that was surprising is the fact that it took two meetings between the Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković and Deputy PMs Božo Petrov and Tomislav Karamarko, each lasting more than 10 hours to come to this conclusion.
Even though the media has been reporting on his numerous alleged affairs for days, Crnoja stated that he presented his entire documentation and legal experts concluded that he was innocent. However as he said ” I do not want to be a burden for the new govenment or a reason for failure of this cabinet so I handed in my resignation”.
He refused to answer any questions from the press and left with his advisers Herman Vukušič and Jospi Jurčević as soon as he finished giving his brief address.
Opposition demanded Crnoja’s resignation, giving the Government 24 hours to reach a decision, after the allegations of numerous affairs appeared in national media, as we previously reported.
Mijo Crnoja is now a minister with the shortest term in Croatian history, his mandate lasted only 5 days.
