The Stock Market

If you’re on the Main Square and you take Jurišićeva ulica to your left, you’ll reach Trg hrvatskih velikana (Square of the great Croatians) with two beautiful buildings on it: the Croatian National Bank on the left, and Ministry of Science and Education on the right.

The building on the left, designed by one of the most famous Croatian architects of the 20th ct, Viktor Kovačić, was built in 1922. It used to be home to the Zagreb Stock Exchange until it was closed in 1945, and it has become another important institution in 1990 – the Croatian National Bank.

Both buildings feature majestic pillars, symbolizing the monumental nature of the important institutions within.
