Croatian MMA fighter Stipe Miočić will thus defend his title for the second time a year after he clinched it in Brazil against Fabricio Werdum
When Ariel Helwani makes an announcement, it soon turns out to be true, so there is no reason why this one wouldn’t be. According to the best world MMA journalist, Stipe Miočić and Junior Dos Santos are confirmed as the main fight of the UFC 211 event, Tportal.hr reported on February 7, 2017.
This large event will take place May 13 in Dallas. Miočić will thus defend his title for the second time a year after he clinched it in Brazil against Fabricio Werdum. But this time he will be the home fighter, again against a Brazilian.
For Miočić this will not only be a title defence but also a rematch for a defeat he believes shouldn’t have happened.
The two of them duelled out at the end of 2014 in five rounds, with the Brazilian coming out on top, but it was Miočić who thrilled the MMA public that day. Although defeated in that fight, the performance definitely helped him on his road to the title.
Dos Santos secured what he was hoping for, but believed he would have to achieve by fighting Stefan Struve. As the fight against Struve was cancelled due to the Dutchman’s injury, Dos Santos was available and was offered this fight, which he gladly accepted and will attempt for the second time to become the UFC heavyweight champion.
