They are heroes in both words and deeds.
Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) was named the communicator of the year for successful communication with citizens and pushing the boundaries of communication in the Croatian public and media space, announced the Croatian Association for Public Relations (HUOJ), which awards the prize, reports Večernji List on February 7, 2017.
HUOJ’s jury chose among five nominees for the communicator of the year award (HGSS, Zdravko Marić, Boris Jokić, Marko Matijević and Bruno Šimleša), and decided to award it to HGSS, describing the organization as an excellent communicator and innovator in communications. The award will be presented at a ceremony in Zagreb on 16 March.
“HGSS demonstrates all the characteristics of good communication – it is strategically meaningful, uses effective channels to convey important messages, and it operates professionally, convincingly, understandably, clearly and attractively”, announced HUOJ. It added that HGSS’s approach was also innovative, since it uses all the modern communication channels and is following the development of latest technologies. HGSS was among the first which took into account the power of social networks by building a unique communication style, sometimes with a bit of humour, which makes HGSS’s messages monitored even by those who are safe and are unlikely to ever need its services.
“We would like to congratulate the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service team. The prize goes into the right hands. Although it is clear that these heroes do not want to meet any of us during their rescue missions, thanks to their communication skills they have successfully entered into our homes and gained our attention in order to raise awareness about the importance of safe and responsible behaviour”, says the president of the HUOK jury Daria Mateljak.
HGSS was the first collective nominee ever nominated for the communicator of the year award.
HUOJ pointed out that all the other nominees were high quality candidates who deserved full attention and respect because, as they say, “every one of them pushes the boundaries of communication in their field and provides a good example to others”.
