The second Rovinj Beach Polo Cup – which is a unique sports, tourist and social event in Croatia and the region – will be held from May 18 to 21 this year at the Rovinj beach Porton Biondi.
After successfully completing the first edition of the tournament, this year’s Rovinj Beach Polo Cup brings many new features. For the first time this year, citizens and visitors will be able to follow the games of the tournament daily and enjoy entertainment during breaks from a public auditorium which will be set in the polo arena. The number of games will be increased due to the increased number of reported polo teams. This year, there will be six teams with players from different parts of the world, reports HRTurizam on February 10, 2017.
This year’s polo tournament is accompanied by a rich entertainment program, and one evening in particular will host the former singer of Spandau Ballet – Tony Hadley – who will host a concert in the area of EX TDR. There will be a polo parade from the arena to the city center, and the best Rovinj restaurants will offer special menus dedicated to this event.
Chairman of the organizing committee for the Beach Polo Tournament, Uwe Zimmerman, said that Rovinj is already recognized as a luxury destination, and that it has the necessary infrastructure and facilities for the organization of the tournament in the royal sport.
“This is a festival of sport, elegance, beauty, history, entertainment and networking that will bring unforgettable sports and leisure moments but also promote polo as a new sport in the region. Rovinj Beach Polo Cup is organized at a very high level and is played by top international teams whose matches are attended by fans from around the world. This year we want to further raise the quality by improving the quality of the terrain, adding two more teams, and increasing the number of female players which will open the door to a larger audience. As we did last year, we will repeat the parade of all participants to the city center and have excellent evening entertainment,” concluded Zimmerman.
Rovinj Beach Polo Cup ranks Rovinj and Croatia with other top quality polo destinations such as Dubai, New York and Miami, thus significantly contributing to recognition of Rovinj as a luxury and elite destination. At the same time, an event such as this increases the number of overnight stays in the period prior to the season – especially in accommodation facilities of the highest category and hotels with four and five stars as a large number of public celebrities from Croatia and abroad will come to Rovinj just for this event.
