VIDEO: Rijeka’s Carnival Procession Boasts Over 10k Masks!

The 32nd International Carnival parade was held in Rijeka today.

The heart of Rijeka held the 32nd International Carnival parade as the culmination of the Rijeka Carnival. The event involved around 10,400 masked participants in 110 carnival groups with 74 floats, reports Novi List on February 26, 2017.

This year’s Rijeka Carnival parade hosted participants from all over Rijeka, the wider Kvarner region, and Croatia. In addition, the parade hosted participants from abroad, including three groups from Italy, Ptuj in Slovenia, Herceg Novi in Montenegro, and Vrnjačka Banja in Serbia.

The procession started at noon and moved its way from the waterfront, across Ivan Zajc street, Ribarska street, Jelačić Square, across Scarpina street, Corso, Adamićeva street and Jadranski square, before returning to the port. Along the route there were six stages to liven the already vibrant atmosphere.
