SplEat: Split Restauranteurs Join Forces for New Gastro Festival this Spring

Daniela Rogulj

After the fabulous winter food festival “GastroGet” which was held within Split’s Advent event, restauranteurs from within the city center are once again coming together to present their gastronomic delights, but this time for a spring festival titled “SplEat”.

Here is what SplEat is all about.

“The gastronomic revolution that occurred in Split a few years ago is old news. Of course, the situation is directly related to the significant increase in the number of foreign tourists in the summer months, but the ultimate result is also affected by the trend in Split citizens who are increasingly monitoring the restaurant scene in the city. Many new restaurants, wine bars, and modern fast food establishments are opening their doors, and in their own way, each new restaurant creates and presents their offer, which we have to admit is becoming broader and even more interesting each year. Of course, in a sea of refined and newly opened restaurants, converted caffe bars, and old taverns with new menu looks – it is difficult to do something interesting and present a well-rounded culinary story.

To make this story better told in order for it to be more beautiful, more fun, more delicious and creative for all of us, six city restaurants with different offers but similar approaches to the hospitality industry have joined together in the gastronomic association ‘SplEat’.

In introducing the collective, the festival, and above all the creation, SplEat hopes to take guests on an unusual gastronomic journey in their backyard. With that said, the SplEat collective is working on a seasonal spring offer to ensure guests are presented with something new and unusual, all while displaying healthy competition in the Split restaurant scene.

SplEat includes restaurants Bokeria, Uje Oil Bar, Artičok, Corto Maltese, Galerija Food, and DeBelly. Guests should expect interesting drinks, a selection of wines, snacks, main dishes, and desserts.”

For example, the first event tonight at Bokeria will include chefs Toni from Corto Maltese, Chef de Cuisine Duje from Artičok, and Goran, the artist from DeBelly. As part of the evening, guests will also be served by a recognizable team of hosts from the other restaurants in the collective.

The first dedicated food festival in the spring, SplEat begins today at Bokeria, and will continue with Corto Maltese, Uje Oil Bar, DeBelly, Artičok, and Galerija Food each Wednesday through the end of April.
