While they were awarded the prestigious label of environmental excellence, “Green Key”, Split hotel Le Meridien Lav also announced that they would be joining the global “Earth Hour” movement, reports HRTurizam on March 25, 2017.
Responsibility for nature and the environment is one of the key elements of action for responsible companies, and it is thanks to their responsible environmental thinking and actions that Split hotel Le Meridien Lav has been ranked in the prestigious company of one of the most respected social responsibility programs for hotel tourism – the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) “Green Key”.
The “Green Key” was founded in 1994 in Denmark with an aim to promote sustainable tourism. The long-term goal of the “Green Key” contributes to the prevention of climate change and environmental protection. This prestigious honor is awarded only after there has been the thorough inspection of facilities with verification of systematic work according to strict criteria. In addition to the environmental aspects that relate primarily to the positive impact of companies and accommodation facilities on the environment, this program aims to enable companies through economic gains as a result of reduced consumption and provides marketing strategies to promote accommodation capacities and environmental labels.

Le Meridien Lav will also be participating alongside other Split businesses, and even Diocletian’s palace, in joining the Earth Hour movement. The hotel will turn off the lights that are not essential for a smooth stay and the safety of guests this evening, March 25, from 20:30-21:30.
