Valamar Riviera announced the opening of two new luxury resorts in Rabac in time for the summer season
The new resorts are located at the site of the former tourist resort Girandella, reports Glas Istre. Existing objects built in 1969 and renovated in the 80s have seen another round of renovation work, and multiple new objects were built at the site as well.
Family Life Bellevue Resort and Valamar Girandella Resort will dispose of 764 accommodation units and will be able to house 2700 guests in total. The investment of 562 million kuna makes this the largest Valamar project of the year, creating 350 new workplaces.
President of the Valamar board Željko Kukurin announced on many occasion that Rabac will see more than 100.000 guests in the next three years, owing to their partnership with two of the largest tour operators in the world, TUI and Rewe Group. The opening of new resorts marks the beginning of a new era in tourism for Rabac, as the hotel rating will be raising from 2-3 stars to 4-5 stars, leading to the accommodation prices increasing up to 300% compared with the former resort in the same place.
Valamar Riviera is investing into tourism infrastructure, beaches, playgrounds for children, new restaurants and bars, cycling lanes and the unique Bike center that will be open both to locals and the visitors, as well as Valamar’s guests. They are renovating the promenade in Rabac and constructing new parking lots, and they made sure to underline their cooperation with local companies. “To develop the authenticity of the service and support the local economy, Valamar makes sure to employ as many locals as possible”, said Ivana Budin Arhanić, the vice president of development and corporate affairs at Valamar Riviera.
Other included parties also see the project as a milestone in developing tourism in Rabac. Mayor of Labin Tulio Demetlika said: “This project creates new values that will affect the guest structure, improve the employment rate, and lead to an increase in profit and the living standard of our citizens. I see great potential for other local participants who provide various tourist services in Rabac. Another incentive for cultural tourism development is the Rabac Open Air festival, a new model of cooperation between the Town of Rabac, the Tourism Board and Valamar. I’m certain that, along with the Labin Art Republic, Rabac Open Air will be one of the most important events this summer in the whole of Istria.”
