“Croatian gastronomy reflects the richness of its nature, its hardworking and warm people, the diversity of their customs… Taste Croatia – is the answer to the wishes of the people who want to sample these rich tastes all at one place. Carefully selected products by small, but highly valued producers will take your palate on an unforgettable journey. Authentic Croatian tastes are hand-crafted using the best local ingredients, based on traditional recipes,” Iris Flipan says.

Around 60 small farmers have been invited to participate in the project. Many of them have never had their products served at restaurants before.

“It has been challenging to choose family run farms, crafts and other small producers of truly the best products from around the country, contacting them and providing continuous delivery to places where Taste Croatia project will be available. Since Zagreb is a year-round tourist destination, the first location where the project will be presented will be Miseria Nobile tavern, located in the centre of Zagreb, and when the tourist season starts, it will spread to the Adriatic coast as well. We are currently negotiating with some restaurants representing Croatian cuisine abroad as well,” Slađana Križić added.

Taste Croatia represents the gastronomic offers of the following regions: Continental Croatia, Lika and Gorski Kotar, Istria and Kvarner, Dalmatia, and Slavonia and Posavina. In addition to the regions’ staples, foodies will also be able to taste some rare delicacies, known about only by true gourmet connoisseurs, such as prezvuršt (a mush of pork scraps, similar to scrapple), donkey sausage, bear salami, sušena peka (a type of dried meat), and sir iz mišine (sheepskin cheese).

Taste Croatia is intended for taverns and restaurants, but to meet the market demands, the offer will also include ready-made packages that can be taken home or offered to guests at business and other events.
