Total Croatia News

Three cruise ships carrying 7,000 passengers arrived in Zadar yesterday.

As Zadarski List reported on the 2nd of June, 2017, three cuise ships carrying more than 7,000 passengers arrived in Zadar yesterday, meaning that this record-breaking day arrive two months earlier than it did in 2016, when thousands of cruise ship passengers flocked to Zadar in August.

The first cruise ship, which arrived yesterday at 07:00 at Gazenica port, was ”Brilliance of the Seas”, a 294 metre long cruise ship carrying 2,500 passengers. Thirty minutes later, ”MSC Simphony”, a 275 metre long Italian cruise ship carrying another 2,500 arrived, sailing into the port on the peninsula. Djoni Stambuk spoke on behalf of the Zadar Port Authority, saying that this was the largest ship to have sailed into the town port so far.

At approximately 09:30, ”Aida Blue”, a 255 metre long ship carrying 2,300 passengers entered Gazenica port, arriving in Zadar from Dubrovnik, continuining its voyage to Venice in Italy, before returning to Zadar once again. ”Brilliance of the Seas” also arrived from Venice, and will then set sail south for the Montenegrin destination of Kotor.

Guests from luxurious cruise ships swarmed the streets of Zadar’s peninsula, marking a great beginning to 2017’s tourist season.

What’s more, three more luxury ships will be arriving in Zadar today too, which means Saturday could break records in international maritime traffic, too!

At 02:00 in the morning, a smaller cruise ship under the name of ”Crystal Espirit” carrying just 80 passengers, is set to enter the city harbour and stay in Zadar until 15:00. ”Seven Seas”, a 180 metre long cruise ship carrying 700 passengers will moor in Gazenica, and at noon, ”Celebrity Constellation’‘ is set to arrive, bringing a massive 2,200 tourists to Zadar.

Throughout the months of July and August, even larger crowds are expected owing to the fact that there will be days when two or more cruise ships will arrive in Zadar, transporting over 4,000 people altogether.
