Croatian Cities To Offer Free Guided Tours

Lauren Simmonds

A chance to explore some of Croatia’s top destinations for free.

Staying in one of Croatia’s main destinations and want to save some money? You’ve come at the right time! Free guided tours of several cities across the whole country are going to take place over the weekend to celebrate International Tourist Guide Day which falls on 21 February 2016. Originally an initiative from the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, the International Tourist Guide Day was first celebrated in 1990 when just 15 countries participated, since then more and more countries have joined in and the ”trend” has grown considerably in the last few years.

If you are here in sunny Dubrovnik, free guided tours are set to begin on Saturday 20 February 2016 at 10:00am from Pile Gate. There will also be guided tours in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb.

The tours taking place on Saturday will leave at 10:00am and again 11:00am. The meeting point for Zagreb is in front of the tourist information centre on Ban Jelacic square.

On Sunday 21 February Rijeka and Opatija are also joining in and are going to be offering free guided tours on two separate buses. At 9:00am one bus will set off from Jelacic square in Rijeka and at 10:30am it will head off to Opatija.

The bus for Opatija will also head off from Slatina at 9:30am and at 11:30am it will head to central Rijeka. Free tickets for both of these buses can be obtained from the tourist information centre in Rijeka (Korzo 14) and also in Opatija (M. Tito 128).
