Surprisingly good results for Croatian Post.
Croatian Post has announced better business results than planned, while the company’s CEO Ivan Čule confirmed that last year’s gross profits were 141 million kuna, which was mostly a consequence of the development of the core business. Despite a highly competitive market, Croatian Post is one of the most successful European postal operators, reports Poslovni.hr on June 21, 2017.
The Croatian Post representatives expressed their satisfaction with the past year and the fact that they know where to invest in the future. This has also been confirmed by the announcement that, after several months of intensive internal work, the board of directors has issued a development document titled Postal Strategy 2022, which focuses on the development of the company’s core business, entering the new markets, and employee development, all within the next five years.
Among a series of digitisation projects ready to be launched, the most important one is the development of the Digital Postman app. The pilot phase of this service will begin at the start of July in the Varaždin area. The smartphone application will become an integral way of doing business and will allow users to monitor the status of their shipments in real time. This means that Varaždin area users will be able to sign for deliveries on a device’s display, while the postmen will have a portable printer if a user pays for one of their services at the delivery address.
The company is also working on a turn towards more economical and environmentally-friendly vehicles. Croatian Post will buy 66 four-wheel electric vehicles for use in city centres, where there are restrictions on transportation and where using motorcycles and cars is difficult. The value of this public tender will be around 4.4 million kunas (excluding the value-added tax). The construction of a new sorting centre, which is the largest capital investment in the history of the company (345 million kunas), has begun with the first stage of the project being underway.
