Stay Cool: Mini Heatwave on its way to Dubrovnik

Lauren Simmonds

Love it or hate it, it’s that time of year again…

A fitting announcement for the official beginning of summer.

Dubrovnik-Neretva County’s public health institute has let us know that the southern Croatian region is set to experience some extreme temperatures this weekend and beyond, with the numbers steadily creeping up into the low thirties. Beginning on Friday, temperatures will begin to soar and the full heat of Dubrovnik’s famous (or infamous, I suppose that is subjective) signature heat will begin to take hold of the city.

The public health institute warns residents and visitors to avoid the sun if possible, to stay hydrated (and not with beer) and to utilise all necessary protection from sunstroke and harmful UV rays. Walking the walls might be off the list… at least before 17:00…

Luckily, a couple of thunderstorms might be on the agenda over the weekend as the extreme heat and the cold air clash in the skies. Get your cameras at the ready for that display!
