Croatian football league continues this weekend. It is Day 24, and after all the controversies in first two weekends of 2016, football fans hope for more football talk, and less oversights from the referees.
It’s time for football in Croatia again, and the game most expected is to be played on Saturday, but we will introduce them as they come. It all kicks off today;
INTER – SLAVEN BELUPO – Friday, 16.00 CET, Zaprešić
Teams separated by just two points, and both hoping to get a win that would get them out of the danger zone for the relegation. Inter is in a good form, clinching four points in first two games of the year, and Slaven has three, but losing the first game vs Hajduk is not one to be worried about.
ZAGREB – ISTRA – Friday, 18.00 CET, Zagreb
Many think all ships have sailed for Zagreb team, but if they are to stay in the competition for the next year, it is a must win for the hosts. Istra wants three points, as they struggle this season, and are a candidate for relegation, and are, just as Zagreb winless in this year.
OSIJEK – LOKOMOTIVA – Saturday, 15.00 CET, Osijek
Hosts have the new management, and are hoping to get back on trails for success, and Lokomotiva need the points to stay in Europa league zone. It is not easy to predict any result for this game, even though Osijek looks as an under-dog, but those games tend to be highly unpredictable, and full of surprising results in the history of two clubs.
RIJEKA – HAJDUK – Saturday, 17.00 CET, Rijeka
It is the Derby of the Adriatic. Both teams are disappointed after losing in Zagreb last weekend. Hajduk has more comfortable situation, as they seem safe on the third position on the table, and Rijeka needs a win to keep their title dreams alive, but this game is always intense, regardless of the table. Rijeka should be the favorite, especially as Hajduk is missing more than few key – players due to injuries and suspensions.
DINAMO – SPLIT – Sunday, 15.00 CET, Zagreb
Split is one of just a few teams to bring a battle to Dinamo when visiting Maksimir, and with both teams being in high spirit, it could be an interesting game. As game is played on lunch time, one can expect a record for the low attendance in Maksimir, except if Bad Blue Boys return to the stands, as some rumors whisper.
