Organized by the Association of Juvenile Volunteers of the Homeland War in Split-Dalmatia County, boats descended down the Cetina river for the 8th memorial regatta which took place on July 16, 2017.
The regatta began in Panj where around 60 teams, or about 200 crew members, descended down the Cetina.
The sail, which was not a competition, lasted about three hours. The regatta was attended mostly by veterans from veteran associations from the area of the Cetina region.
Sinj Mayor Kristina Križanac, director of the Tourist Board of Sinj Monika Vrgoč, Croatian golden Olympian Martin Sinković, and Zoran Komar, a military psychiatrist and former secretary in the ministry of defense counsel, also participated in the regatta.
“The regatta represents – apart from the elements of patriotism – everything that we want to cultivate, and that is the memory of our fallen Croatian knights, the promotion of tourism, and the beauty of our region. At this very destination, the route went from Panj to Gala in the village of Jelavić, and near the Jelavić falls where locals and veterans enjoyed snacks and socializing. Given the reactions of the people who were there, this was more than well-organized and wonderfully received by everyone in attendance,” said Filip Ratković, one of the organizers.
