The fight against the blaze in Dalmatia continues – the fire on Mljet has been put under control, but Đevrske in Šibenik-Knin County is still critical.

7.50 HAK reports that the visibility at the A1 motorway between Benkovac and Skradin junctions is reduced from smoke, and the speed limit is 100 km/h.
7.40 The fire that broke out on the Island of Mljet yesterday has not been put under control, with firefighters from the mainland expected to arrive early in the morning, as well as four Canadairs.
“The fire is still active. The firefighters are trying to get through to it, but the terrain is making it difficult, as well as the wind. Firefighters from Ston, Konavle, Dubrovnik, Župa Dubrovačka and Dubrovačko Primorje will board the first ferry in the morning. I have requested four Canadiars,” Dubrovnik-Neretva fire commander Stjepan Simović said, adding that inhabited places are not in danger, but he would not rule out the possibility of that changing in the night.
A dense pine forest in Rope, near the National Park, is on fire.
7.00 Two fires are still active in the Šibenin-Knin County, one which started on Tuesday near Đevrske, and one on Promina, which the firefighters have been fighting with for six days.

23.58 Šibenski list reports that the situation is getting worse – the fire started getting close to hamlets of Lišnjak and Velušić, and 21 persons have been evacuated. Some of them are staying with relatives, while others are in Drniš Kindergarten.
“We are currently evacuating inhabitants of Đidara, right of Velušić and we have yet to decide whether the inhabitants from the left side will also be evacuated. It all depends on which way the fire will go. The situation is dire, we have formed a new line of defence in the suburbs, in Varoš,” Head of Drniš Civil Protection Tomislav Dželalija said.

23.22 Nova TV reports that the fire in Đevrske is the biggest one in Dalmatia at the moment. All the surrounding hills are burning, the houses have been saved, but a strong wind keeps making the fire stronger and taking it to different directions.

Šibenski list reported on August 22, 2017, that a man has been arrested for lighting a fire in Mirlović Zagora, and he is not the only one currently being processed. Marica Kosor, Šibenik-Knin Police Department spokeswoman, confirmed that members of the police have arrested a man trying to light a fire with a lighter. The police have been patrolling the location because they suspected someone had been deliberately causing fires.
