The talented young water polo player is impressing his American counterparts.
As we wrote a few weeks ago, the vast majority of the millions of tourists who arrive in the Pearl of the Adriatic each year have probably never heard of VK Jug or of the long relationship between water polo and Dubrovnik itself. Overshadowed by its ”top trades” of tourism and culture, rarely does Dubrovnik’s rich sporting history get a look in.
We introduced you to Jacob Merčep, an exceptionally talented young water polo player from Dubrovnik who just seems to go further and further as far as his sporting gift is concerned.
As Dubrovački Dnevnik reports on the 6th of October, 2017, the young sportsman was proclaimed athlete student of the month at the university in America where he plays water polo in the San Jose State Spartans team. Mercep scored an impressive 37 goals in just nine games, then scored six more goals in four other significant games, three of which were against the top teams in that particular state.
He is currently seventh in the country owing to his talents and was rightfully declared player of the week when he scored a huge 22 goals.
We’d like to wish Jacob continued sporting success and pass on our sincere congratulations for everything he has achieved so far!
