The recognition keeps pouring in for one of Croatia’s most loved islands.
The summer season has officially come to an end to the relief of many of us in Croatian tourism. With a much calmer offseason ahead, we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the quieter streets and squares, slower crowds, and plenty of hearty winter fare to gain that extra layer of ‘love’ for the colder winter months.
With the summer season’s end also comes plenty of reflection, and that is precisely what Conde Nast Traveler and more than 300,000 travelers have done in the Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards 2017.
Through millions of traveler’s ratings and over 100,000 of their comments, Conde Nast has compiled a list of the best in travel, including everything from cities and hotels to cruise lines, and in this specific case, the best islands in the world.
On October 16, 2017, the monthly luxury and lifestyle magazine compiled a list of the 30 best islands in the world outside of the United States as part of their Reader’s Choice Awards this year.
On the list, as expected, is one of the jewels of Croatia – the island of Hvar.
Conde Nast Traveler writes:
“Lush vineyards, secluded coves, and winding medieval streets attract visitors to this 42-mile-long island off the coast of Croatia. The Adriatic island is as popular with backpackers as it is with luxury yachts, and this summer brought the debut of UberBOAT, connecting Hvar to towns along the Dalmatian coast.
Pro tip: Hvar is a popular base for exploring additional islands farther afield, including other Pakleni Islands that are home to caves, coves, and nude beaches, which can be reached by rental boat.”
They also mention that getting to Hvar’s two main towns, Hvar and Stari Grad is simple with ferries (and catamarans) from Split
