While expressing no particular desire to comment on the criticism he has faced of late, the PM has clearly rebuffed the President’s claims about the country being in a ”state of emergency”.
As RTL writes on the 11th of November, 2017, Prime Minister Plenković added that following the long discussions that have taken place regarding his government, it has become clear that from the outset, the government has been focused on the Law on Extraordinary Administration, which protects the general interest, the Croatian economy, the stability of the financial system and of course, jobs.
After a fifteen hour debate on the mistrust of the government at the request of the opposition in particular regard to the messy and still very vague Agrokor affair, which, as we reported, didn’t pass in the Croatian Parliament, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said that his government has been protecting general interests and as mentioned, the economy.
Plenković noted that this was the fourth unsuccessful opposition initiative, and that they were aware that the instrument they used wouldn’t be able to pass in Croatian Parliament.
He added that even in its written form, the initiative was rushed and hasty, and in practice, it clearly placed all of its void emptiness on display. The PM was clear in stating that the unwelcome initiative wouldn’t stop his government from continuing to implement its program, nor would it be an obstacle for the government’s desire to provide a ”better quality of life” for the Croatian people and to continue going forward with reforms and positive trends in Croatian society.
”We’ll show the difference between [this] and serious and responsible politics,” concluded Plenković.
He estimated that Croatia was not in a state of emergency, as President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović had previously said.
”Croatia, of course, has difficulties and problems, but it also has a government which follows these problems and we’ve shown that on all the issues that have come up on the agenda, and we’ll continue on that way,” said Plenković, refusing to comment on the criticism he’s faced throughout the last few days.
