Vrsar in Istria might be getting a new tourist hotspot dedicated to the sea
A concept project of a multimedia interpretative centre for visitors ‘MORe-MORe’ in Vrsar was presented at the Ministry of Culture earlier today, reports Morski.hr on December 8, 2017.
In collaboration with the local tourist board, the Municipality of Vrsar submitted a proposal in September to procure the funding for reconstruction and refurbishment of an edifice located near the waterfront in the centre of Vrsar, aiming to launch and develop a multimedia centre for visitors ‘MORe-MORe’. If the Ministry of Culture decides to provide the required funds, the centre will become a cultural-tourist product that will help brand Vrsar on multiple levels: regional, national, European and even global.
The centre in planning has a theme that’s best summed up in the motto ‘feel the sea’ or ‘experience the sea’. It sprung from an initiative of the local community which had a wish to pay tribute to the sea and present it to their visitors, all the while providing the local population with a new space for social gathering. The project is focused on sustainable management of visitors and will aim to improve the visitors’ experience, developing the cultural-tourist offer in Vrsar along the way.
The master plan of the presented project involves multimedia content that will enable the visitors to get acquainted with marine life, i.e. flora and fauna indigenous to the region. Another part of the content will be telling the story of people and the sea living in unison, including information on fishing, gastronomy and the ins and outs of living by the sea.
MORe-MORe will strive to create an unforgettable experience of the sea in a way that will simultaneously be educational, interactive, modern and entertaining, hoping to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and developing sustainable tourism.
The project is currently undergoing a review process, and the decision of the Ministry is expected before the end of 2017.
