Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli visited the largest tourism project in Croatia yesterday.

The company Valamar Riviera is responsible for not only the largest tourism project in Croatia, but also the largest construction site in Croatian tourism, with two luxury resorts in Rabac – Family Life Bellevue Resort 4* and Valamar Girandella Resort 4* / 5*. Accompanied by Zeljko Kukurina who is the President of the Valamar Management Board, Minister Gari Cappelli visited the construction site that spans up to 15 hectares, with 1,100 workers and 150 engineers, architects, and designers working there daily, reports HRTurizam on February 13, 2017.

The reconstruction and construction of the two new luxury resorts will have a total of 764 accommodation units for more than 2,700 guests which is the largest tourism project by Valamar Riviera in 2017. The total value of investment in Rabac is estimated at 562 million kuna. This investment in Rabac will attract visitors with more spending power and reposition it as a leading vacation destination for the high category, and the resort will also host 630 employees.

The opening of the resort is scheduled for early June with a demand for as many as 350 new jobs, so it is no surprise that Valamar has already begun the intensive recruitment of new staff. The construction of the resorts include mainly Croatian construction companies and suppliers, and approximately 50 percent of the companies are local to Istria.

“This is the largest tourism project in Croatia and confirms the ambition of Valamar Riviera to continue to invest and develop the tourism portfolio. Due to the global movement of low interest rates and the orientation of tourist’s demand on safe destinations, this encouraging investment in Croatia can reposition tourism according to high quality and thus boost employment and economic growth. Our investment in Rabac is an example of a project that was started by a Croatian construction sector who hired vendors and opened 350 new jobs and will also significantly increase tourist spending and improve the quality of the destination,” said CEO of Valamar Riviera Zeljko Kukurin.

The Minister congratulated Valamar on the investment, stressing again that more than 800 million euros will be invested in the tourism sector in 2017 which will build more than 40 new or newly renovated hotels, all of a high standard.

“The increase in investment year after year shows that Croatia is an attractive country for tourist arrivals and investment. We are building the most points for hotel capacity and secondary categories, and the enrichment of experiential offers in the camps. I think that we can be satisfied with the pace of investment in the Croatian tourism sector,” said Minister of Tourism, Gari Cappelli, who in conclusion announced that at this point 200 million euros have been invested in Istria.
