Pločasti Bridge, Vrlika Sights

Daniela Rogulj

A stone bridge over the River Cetina is made from mediaeval megaliths, which were originally used as tombstones. A unique example of spanning the river, it is located near numerous archaeological sites, the most important of which is the pre-Romanesque Church of Holy Salvation with a necropolis.

The tombstones were probably brought from a 15th-century necropolis near the Vranješi hamlet. A similar bridge, the so-called Vukovića bridge, spans the backwater of the River Cetina near the Vukovića hamlet, downstream from the Vukovića spring of the River Cetina.
