One of Croatia’s most well-known success stories, Mate Rimac, voices his disappointment via social media.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know before, because I’d have pushed for Croatia to have been taken into account,” wrote Rimac on Facebook.
On the 27th of February, 2018, Poslovni Dnevnik reported the founder of Rimac Automobili’s statement on his Facebook profile, stating how a large German car company has chosen Serbia as the location for its electric power plant.
“I was at the management board of a large German automobile company yesterday (it has revenues almost at the level of Croatia’s GDP), and they were searching for a location for the construction of a manufacturing plant for electrical power systems in Eastern Europe. 15 states put their bids in. Macedonia and Serbia were in the finals. Croatia wasn’t even amongst these 15. In the end, they chose Serbia. There, they’ll produce hundreds of thousands of power systems for electric cars – systems that will drive many European premium cars. And with that, the Serbian Government has secured yet another big project, but it isn’t my place to post about what the situation is there. I’m sorry I didn’t know before because I’d have pushed for Croatia to be taken into account. But maybe that’s better – it would probably be a total waste of time because it wouldn’t be the first time that I’ve done it,” Rimac concluded.
