Croatian innovation impresses the Spaniards and their visitors.
Croatia is responsible for some of the world’s most successful sportsmen and women, great thinkers, writers, educators, innovators, medics, and inventors in the world. This tiny country has produced some of the greatest gifts to the world in all fields and professions, so it shouldn’t come as any surprise at all that some of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of this year’s Mobile World Congress have come from the Republic of Croatia.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Bernard Ivezić writes on the 4th of March, 2018, the largest of them present at the congress in Barcelona is the largest Croatian software company, Infobip, which, through valuable collaboration with the British company Vodafone, launched a technology platform through which it will offer the successor to what we now know as the SMS messaging service, the so-called Rich Communications Services (RCS). The first business user of this platform is the fastest growing and wildly popular US Uber, and the use of RCS will make it much easier for Uber drivers to properly communicate with their customers.
Hardware Premiere
Another big surprise at MWC in 2018 were the three top models from the Croatian manufacturer of smart phones, Hangara 18, two of which have competed with global competition in the new iPhone X category of devices. The company from Koprivnica has developed an N10 device which, among other much sought-after, modern specs, has a screen that resembles that of the new and deeply desired iPhone X.
Yet another Croatian product impressed all those at 2018’s Mobile World Congress, Mate Rimac’s Greyp bikes company, which introduced new IoT electric bikes that will be available in the summer. In cooperation with Hrvatski Telekom (Croatian Telecom), Greyp was presented at the Deutsche Telekom booth, with the new eSIM technology, which will enable future owners of this bike to quickly connect to the Internet across Europe and North America, a service which will be free for them by the year 2022. The new G6 series will feature an accelerometer, a gyroscope, an HR monitor, a G detector for hazardous situations, as well as a camera that will allow you to continuously record while riding the bike.
New technologies
Representatives of Ericsson Nikola Tesla were also present. At the Ericsson booth, there were solutions for 5G and IoT, which are expected to be in high demand by the time 2020 rolls around. Another Croatian startup, called Microblink, was present at the congress, an Damir Sabola presented a number of computer-based solutions.
Among other things, BlinkReceipt’s account scanner, personal ID scanner and other official BlinkID documentation was presented. The Barcelona congress taught the Spaniards just how much attention is being paid to the Croatian nautical market, and the Zagreb-based startup Zizoo, which works with nautical bookings and was founded by two Croats, received a new, very welcome investment and with it announced thirty new jobs.
