Tourism: Tehnika to Construct Costabella in Rijeka

A new tourist feature for Rijeka is on the horizon despite Tehnika’s woes.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Suzana Varošanec writes on the 7th of March, 2018, after the previous procedure for establishing the hypothesis for opening a bankruptcy case over Tehnika was launched, the company is now anxiously waiting for a hearing scheduled by the Commercial Court in Zagreb on the 24th of April.

On the agenda, there will be an announcement on the bankruptcy proposal put forward by Zagorje Tehnobeton, for which, at least according to Tehnika’s latest announcement, has no base and is unfounded. Tehnika remains convinced that they will prove that “there are no legal reasons for conducting the proceedings and that the motion as groundless will be rejected”.

Director Zlatko Sirovec has stated that the documentation related to assets and liabilities requested by the Zagreb Commercial Court from Tehnika will be offered hastily. In this particular case, the reason for overindebtedness can only and exclusively be determined by a competent expert appointed directly by the court itself, the court therefore refused to accept the statement of a court expert hired by the Zagorje construction company which is pushing for the unwanted bankcruptcy proceedings.

To cover the extremely uncomfortable 148million-euro loss of the year (as a result of a clean-up of the balance sheet due to the damaging crisis in Agrokor), the company will use retained earnings. With regard to the opening of a new construction site, Costabella in Rijeka was confirmed by yesterday’s meeting for the agreement of signing the contract. The project is worth 200 million kuna, which implies that a third of the value would go into construction.

As mentioned earlier, Tehnika, an otherwise stable and safe company, was yet another victim to Agrokor’s ongoing woes. Tehnika argues that the proposal to open bankruptcy proceedings filed by Zagorje Tehnobeton is ungrounded.

Tehnika states that it aims to demonstrate that there are no legal reasons for conducting the aforementioned proceedings, and that the Zagorje based company’s proposal will certainly be rejected, with particular emphasis being placed on the fact that Tehnika’s accounts were not and are not blocked, a fact which, according to Sirovec, can be easily confirmed and verified.
