Čakovec to Get First 4 Star Hotel in Spring!

Međimurje’s popularity is growing among tourists, and without high-end accommodation…

Croatia’s overall popularity has come on leaps and bounds over the past several years, with 2017 being the most successful to date.

The country broke record after record when it comes to tourism and tourist figures, won various awards and gained recognition across the globe. As tourists from the rest of Europe and from across the world flock to Croatia’s sparkling Adriatic coast, large numbers of them are turning their sights away from the classic hot spot of Dalmatia and discovering not only Istria and Zagreb, but other hidden gems scattered across continental Croatia.

As the tourist offer from continental destinations in the country slowly adapts and expands, more tourists in search of different types of tourism offers head to the otherwise overlooked parts of Croatia, discovering not only the capital, which has become a top destination, but Eastern and Northern parts of the country. Often referred to as the new tourism star of the European Union, Croatia is truly living up to its name.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 25th of January, 2018, this spring, the Northern Croatian town of Čakovec is set to get a new four-star hotel, Hotel Castellum, in which City project will be involved, while Hotel Park will be renovated by Davor Lovrenčić.

Both hotels will focus on the development of additional content, from food and drink to wellness and recreation. Both facilities, in line with global trends, will also enable e-chargers for electric cars, as well as e-bike stations.

“The Castellum Hotel is a project which is fully funded from its own resources, without any support. The desire of the investor to move forward with this project has prompted an increase in recognition of the town of Čakovec and Međimurje on the tourist and economic map, as well as the lack of high-end accommodation facilities,” explained City project.

For the time being, the cost of the investment isn’t being revealed, nor is the future look of the hotel, which is in the final stage of works. Hotel Castellum is located close to the Zrinski Castle and Čakovec Perivoj, close to the city center. The hotel will have 30 rooms and additional facilities, it will feature a multifunctional hall, a meeting room, fitness facilities, a massage and beauty salon and three types of bars, including a wine bar and a sky bar.

Additionally, the reconstruction of Hotel Park amounts to 8.2 million kuna.

“Since Hotel Park is the first city hotel capacity, it’s time for a completely new carpet and the introduction of additional content that will enrich and modernise the hotel’s offer. We’re particularly proud that the reconstruction project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, with 1.9 million kuna, which shows us that the European Union recognises the offer and the possibilities (potential) Čakovec has, as the city itself is doing through support for private initiatives.

We’re sure that this investment will increase the number of overnight stays and guests, and our job is to provide them with the best experience that will encourage them to visit Međimurje and Croatia again,” concluded Hotel Park’s investor, Davor Lovrenčić.
