Two new marinas are opening in Novi Vinodolski, with other major investments to follow
On Friday, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli visited Novi Vinodolski, a seaside town on the Northern Adriatic that is marking the 140th anniversary of organised tourism later this year. Minister Cappelli was taken on a tour of locations that will soon house new tourist attractions, reported Novi list on March 23, 2018.
Two new marinas are set to open in town: Marina Novi in the local port and Marina Mitan in Muroskva Bay. Novi Vinodolski Mayor Velimir Piškulić pointed to two other significant projects, the new freeway worth 250 million kuna that will take some traffic pressure off the town, and the Agglomeration Novi – Crikvenica – Selce, worth over 370 million kuna. The local authorities are also hoping to open a campsite in town in near future.
“We’ll soon become a desirable tourist destination, with two marinas, the Glavica area with its new investments, and opportunities for investment in Klenovica, Povile and Smokvica”, the Mayor said.
Minister Cappelli announced major investments in Rijeka Airport on Krk island, aiming to bring larger numbers of guests to the Kvarner region and to Crikvenica-Vinodol riviera in particular. So far, not much has been done to position Kvarner as an airline destination, but we’re looking at investments in Rijeka Airport amounting to 25 million kuna in total, said Cappelli.
The minister also stated he’s hoping for Eurowings to select Rijeka as their new base. “To become an airline destination, we first need to offer top-quality hotels. The first hotels to get booked up on today’s market are those of the 4 and 5 star categories. We need to insist on hotel facilities, as they guarantee a longer tourist season and larger spending”, said Minister Cappelli, adding that it’s not only hotels that air travellers tend to choose when they’re booking accommodation – 56% of them opt for private accommodation.
Hosts from Novi Vinodolski have announced they plan to invite Minister Cappelli to the celebration of the 140th anniversary in September. As their guest stated, with all these recent investments and developments, Novi Vinodolski is writing a new chapter of tourism history.
