Planning on flying into the Dalmatian capital this summer? Here is what you can expect.

More than 70 new airlines were introduced for Croatia in 2018 from the end of March to the end of October, while there has been a total turnover growth of 15 percent compared to 2017. There are nearly 5,000 new aviation rotations towards Croatia, increasing the number from 29,843 rotations in 2017 to over 34,400 rotations in 2018, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on April 7, 2018.

Analyzing the summer scheduling of destinations according to the absolute number of announced new rotations, Split is in the lead with an increase of 27.7 percent, followed by Dubrovnik with a rise of 19.6 percent, while Zagreb is in third with a growth of 6 percent.

Split this year, among other things, is linked to Volotea’s new flights, connecting the Dalmatian capital with Nice, Palermo and Bergamo, while Thomas Cook flights will link London, Bristol and Glasgow, respectively with Düsseldorf and Hannover through the Condor line. Dubrovnik is connected with new easyJet flights to Naples, Venice and London while TUI flights are connected to Nottingham, Newcastle and Deauville. Through Air Canada, Zagreb will connect with New York, while Croatia Airlines has introduced a new line to Dublin. There are even new lines to Zadar, which are linked by Ryanair via Frankfurt, Bremen and Allgäu Memmingen (Bavaria), as well as new lines to Pula with easyJet flights via Basel, Milan, Berlin, Liverpool and London.

“The key goals we have defined imply Croatia’s positioning as an attractive year-round tourist destination, which is also very well connected with traffic, particularly in the context of airlines that are a key segment of the long-term growth of tourist traffic in the pre- and post-season. This year is the first time we have major cooperation with air carriers and travel organizers from abroad,” said Director of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić.

“Apart from emphasizing the quality of our overall tourist offer, we monitor market trends and expand demand in those markets that have the greatest growth potential of tourist traffic. In that, airlines have an important role to play and enable Croatia to become an even more competitive and interesting international tourist destination,” says Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli.

When looking at the emerging markets, we will see the most rotation between Germany and Croatia (10% more than last year), followed by links with the United Kingdom (+ 8%), France (+ 7%), Italy (+ 39%) and Switzerland (+ 25%). The start of this year’s summer flight season, which saw significantly more rotations in the first week than last year, is an additional indicator of a significant increase in airlines this year. Namely, 536 rotations will be active in the first week, which compared to the 451 rotations in the first week of last year represents a growth of 19 percent. Most new rotations in the first week are recorded at the airports of Dubrovnik, Zagreb and Split.
