Hajduk Completes Record Goalkeeper Transfer for Karlo Letica

The record was formerly held by Lovre Kalinić.

Hajduk has sold 21-year-old goalkeeper Karlo Letica to Club Brugge for three million euro! Letica, who is currently worth 850,000 euro on the market, signed a four-year contract with the Belgian club, reports Index.hr on June 15, 2018. 

“The two meters tall Letica is a former youth player of Hajduk Split. Last season, he kept 12 clean sheets in 22 games. Due to these performances, he conquered a place in the preselection of the Croatian national team for the World Championships this summer,” read a statement by Club Brugge on the club’s official website where the transfer was officially confirmed.

“This is a record goalkeeper transfer in Croatian football history which was formerly held by Lovre Kalinić, who went to Gent a year and a half ago,” Hajduk said on their official website and thanked the favorite goalkeeper. 

Karla Letica was due to finish his scholarship contract next season worth two thousand euros monthly, and Hajduk’s administration recently offered an extension. However, the young Split goalkeeper rejected the proposal and signed for the new Belgian champion whose coaching staff is led by former Hajduk player Ivan Leko.

Karlo Letica made his debut for Hajduk on August 11, 2017, and since then recorded 22 appearances in all competitions. Prior to Hajduk, Letica collected experience on loan at Rudeš, Val, and Mosor.

Without Karlo Letica and Dante Stipica, who signed for CSKA Sofia without transfer compensation after his contract expired, Hajduk has been left without their first and second goalkeeper. Hajduk currently only has Ivo Grbić on the goalkeeping bench.
