Maksim Mrvica dazzles at the Rocks & Stars festival!
On the 29th of June, 2018, the first Rocks & Stars festival at Cave Romane, on the Medulin Riviera, opened in spectacular style with the world-renowned Croatian pianist Maksim Mrvica giving a breathtaking performance at the humanitarian concert. During the summer, the unique setting and former quarry will play host to numerous concerts and lavish events organised by Medulinska Rivijera and this was the perfect start.
There were several short speeches.starting with Diana Kiršić Rosanda. the creative director of the festival and Goran Buić, Mayor of Medulin, Tomislav Boban, special attaché of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Ms Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, and Gari Cappelli, the Minister of Tourism. Before the show started, a cheque for money raised was donated to Pula hospital for a new incubator. Maksim Mrvica, the pianist, was then introduced to the crowd.
To a hushed audience, the classical crossover pianist soon had the audience entranced with his playing skills as he played tracks from his thirteen albums. His mesmerising concert included a fantastic version of “Flight of the Bumble-Bee” from his 2003 album “The Piano Player”. He also perfumed several tracks from his new album “New Silk Road” including “Nutcracker Fantasy”,”Remember Me”, and ”All of Me”.
He was accompanied by a five-piece band and a female vocalist. As well as a dramatic backdrop, the quarry offered outstanding acoustics. The concert was well attended and well organised with people coming from around the world including one lady who had travelled all the way from South Korea just for the concert.
This superb venue, a perfect setting for the cultural diversity of the artistic world, will welcome a range of national and international artists during the course of the summer, including Darko Rundek, Stefan Milenkovich and Bond, culminating in a performance by Richie e Poveri on August the 15th.
