The storm hit the area east of Split.
Sometime before 17:00 on Sunday, the cold front crossed the middle of Dalmatia and thunderstorms reached from Sinj to Šolta. Čiovo and Trogir had abundant showers where there were also floods. The base of the Kamerlengo tower was flooded, forcing the firefighters of the Trogir DVD to intervene, reports Dalmacija Danas on August 26, 2018.
Though many waterspouts (an intense columnar vortex that occurs over a body of water) were reported in the Adriatic, it seems that the biggest of them struck Podstrana. Created near Stobreč, the waterspout then sailed to the hotel Lav.
Judging by the spectacular footage, this was one powerful waterspout. According to the information available, the waterspout reached the mainland in Podstrana, east of Hotel Lav, which means that there may be material damage.
