The static thunderstorm weather system at the sea in front of the coast of southwestern Istria, which brought about 300 strikes of lightning in the area on Monday morning, also brought about numerous twisters, reports Istramet.hr on September 3, 2018.
Reports about the occurrence of the potentially deadly weather phenomenon have been received from the coastal areas from Rovinj to Novigrad, and the twisters were also visible from Baderna and Višnjan.
According to the reports from Rovinj, at one moment at least four twisters were simultaneously visible at the sea.

Fortunately, the twisters kept to the sea and did not make any damage on the coast.

During the rest of the day, unstable weather conditions are expected to continue, which includes the possibility of the development of new thunder systems, including new twisters. Still, it is expected that the majority of the weather instability will be “relocated” to inland Istria and to the Kvarner region.
