After more than four hours of play, Borna Ćorić pulled out a victory against Frances Tiafoe to take Croatia to the Davis Cup final.

Croatia is in the Davis Cup final after an incredibly exciting three-day triumph over the US! In the fifth match of the semifinals in Zadar, Borna Ćorić defeated Frances Tiafoe 6-7 (0), 6-1, 6-7 (11), 6-1, 6-4 and secured the decisive point for the Croatia national tennis team, reports Index.hr on September 16, 2018.

Croatia led 2-0 after the two games on Friday, though the US surprised Croatia in doubles on Saturday and Querrey upset Čilić earlier this afternoon to give the US a massive turnaround.

Borna was the favorite against Tiafoe, who made his Davis Cup debut on Friday against Čilić. However, the young Croatian tennis player lost the first set in a tie-break without winning a point. In the second set, he broke his rival at 6:1, and when he was 5:1 in the third set, it seemed as if Croatian fans could begin planning their trips to France. But it was Tiafoe who returned, won the tie-break, and ultimately won the third set.

Nevertheless, the American player fell in the final two sets, and in just four games, Borna showed just the fighter he is once again and pushed Croatia into the Davis Cup final.

“This is the biggest moment in my life,” Ćorić said after the match.

From November 23-25, Croatia will play in France in their third Davis Cup final. France sealed their fate in the final already on Saturday, easily overcoming a weakened Spain without Rafael Nadal.

Croatia won the Davis Cup title in 2005 against Slovakia, and in 2016, lost to Argentina.
