Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said that this year Croatia has received numerous awards, it is positioned on the global tourism map better than ever before and is now linked with flights with the rest of the world. “We are among the three most favourite destinations in Europe. Croatia has received the title of the most desirable new European destination for Chinese tourists and has been named the best tourist destination in Quebec in Canada. Behind us are almost ten months of a tourist year which has been challenging and exciting, and I believe that positive results will continue in these final few months of the year. This success is a result of the efforts of all tourist workers, all hosts and all those who make our tourism better. Therefore, I would like to congratulate all of you and especially the awardees, for making the Croatian tourism more and more innovative and interesting every year. I believe that we have a bright and fulfilling future of Croatian tourism ahead of us. I believe that, through our joint efforts and facing all the challenges in the future, we will continue to break new records and make Croatian tourism even more competitive, even more open and more fulfilling for each and every visitor,” said Tourism Minister Cappelli.
“Tourism is a very specific sector that is impacted on by the entire community. That is why this award ceremony as part of the Days of Croatian Tourism event represents perhaps the most important part because we can further emphasize the importance and contribution of all tourism workers in achieving tourist results. Croatia is today a respectable tourist destination which is continuing with positive growth trends, and that is a result of the selfless commitment and efforts of our people. Encouraged by the excellent results of this year, we are moving forward strongly into the 2019 and the new tourist year,” said the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić.
“Human resources are our greatest advantage and the tourism success we achieve would not be possible without this year’s awardees. What follows is an even greater improvement in the tourism quality and results, with the strengthening of other sectors that will lead to an increase in GDP and the general level of well-being. Tourism is indirectly a major player in this, precisely in terms of placement of our local products through tourism which should serve as our best and largest sales outlet. It is not realistic to expect that tourists coming to Croatia will significantly increase the market for our companies, but we can expect that our products, from food to furniture to IT solutions, can be successfully promoted and presented to foreign tourists,” said the president of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Luka Burilović.
The award ceremony marked the end of the Days of Croatian Tourism in Hvar. The event was attended by over 1,800 participants from the Croatian tourist industry, business and politics, including Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. Next year, the Days of Croatian Tourism event will take place in Slavonia.
