Mayor Denis Ivanović and his deputy Jadranka Matok Bosančić presented the program for this year’s “Advent in Kaštela” event, to be held in Kaštel Stari and Kaštel Lukšić, from December 1, 2018, to January 5, 2019.
The event is made up of two parts – the Christmas town of Kaštel Stari and the Children’s Adventures fair in Kaštel Lukšić. In Kaštel Stari this year, there will be five holiday homes set up to serve food and drink, while a loaded entertainment program will set your weekend plans for the holiday season. During the weekdays, the caterers themselves will devise fun for the guests, reports Dalmacija Danas on November 17, 2018.
“A wide variety of entertainment groups and bands will be organized by the City, which includes Jasna Zlokić, group Dalmatino, Lidija Bačić, and Zlatko Pejaković, who were engaged after conversations with the younger and older population, and in accordance with the finances available to us for this purpose,” Mayor Ivanović told reporters.
This year, the novelty of the event is the ‘Advent Children’s Fairytale’ at the new park in Kaštel Lukšić, which will include children from Kaštela kindergartens, schools, and children’s associations.
“We decided to create this part of the program because we wanted to treat our youngest in a special way, for whom the City has so far directed an entire series of projects, and we are also in the process of getting the name ‘City of Friends of Children’. The refurbished park in Lukšić has been chosen as the location for these events because it works technically and we are able to decorate the area, and, in a certain way, we want to bring it closer to the citizens,” explained the mayor, who added that, in all likelihood, there would be an ice skating rink set up next to the Pastoral Center.
On this occasion, the Mayor asked that all future visitors to the events in Lukšić be responsible in traffic and use caution when trying to park in the surrounding areas illegally.
“Everyone coming to Lukšić should use the parking lot next to the primary school, behind the Franjo Tudjman monument. You will have to walk a few hundred meters, but it will be safer. We will engage our officers to ensure we maintain the order,” Ivanović announced.
Every Saturday, with a service led by Kaštela priests, an 18-meter long wicker candle designed by students and staff of the Braća Radić Secondary School will burn at the park in Lukšić. Unlike in previous years, the children will light the candle, and who gets the honor will be decided by the school principals depending on the children’s success in different activities and learning,” said deputy mayor Jadranka Matok Bosančić.
Among the performances, recitals, dances and other children’s events, the park will host a welcome for St. Nicholas and St. Lucia, the children’s New Year’s Eve, and a concert for young stars, Mije Dimšić.
This year’s Advent events are organized by the town of Kaštela and the Tourist Board of the Town of Kaštela.
