March 27, 2020 – It’s World Theatre Day today, and while it obviously can’t be celebrated in theatres around the world, as it has been in the previous years, you can watch one of the most popular, prize-winning Croatian plays in the last few years, Dark Mother Earth, online today.
Croatian website tportal has decided to show the play “Dark Mother Earth” (Črna mati zemla), performed by the Zagreb Youth Theatre, directed by Dora Ruždjak Podolski on their YouTube channel. It will be available from Friday, March 27 at noon until Saturday, March 28 at noon. The play is based on the novel by the same name, Dark Mother Earth, written by Kristian Novak. We recently wrote about the novel being translated into English and sold by Amazon.
Director Dora Ruždjak Podolski thanked everyone who continues to follow the culture during these times, as we need beautiful things as we are made for such beautiful moments. She also hopes that, once all of this is over, we’ll be able to celebrate in the streets together.
