Maestralan hike is the idea of a small group of active people and friends, taking the children of the Maestral home in Split to the mountains once a year to spend a playful and cheerful day in nature together.
The Maestralan Hike team has launched a GoGetFunding campaign to collect donations for this year’s Maestral Kayak and to purchase children’s sports equipment.
“In 2018, we started a humanitarian and educational campaign for kids at the Maestral Children’s Home in Split – Maestralan hike.
It is an endeavour from the team at AndAdventure Croatia to give back to the community while creating an active atmosphere for everyone involved. For three years, we enjoyed hiking to the mountains with children while teaching them the value of outdoor life and nature. In the past three years, our company-sponsored and provided full logistical support for the project. Furthermore, the humanitarian action’s ultimate goal was to raise funds to provide children with the necessary equipment for sports and recreation, and this is where we got supported by our dear business partners from the tourism industry and by many individuals who recognized the project’s value.
AndAdventure Croatia is a small privately-owned adventure tour operator. Due to the COVID-19 situation and a complete halt in the travel business that resulted in significant financial loss, we need your help to make this event happen in 2021 and bring smiles to children’s faces and raise funds for their new sports equipment.
For May 2021, the team at AndAdventure has prepared a fantastic day trip to Hvar town from Split with guided sea kayaking to Pakleni islands, including workshops to give the kids of Maestral a chance to learn about marine life, play in nature, and learn new skills. So after three years of hiking, we are ready for some sea kayaking. By organizing this event, AndAdventure hopes the children of the home can be educated and find higher interests in the benefits of an active life outdoors.
AndAdventure will support the project through the logistics, guides, and sea kayaking equipment rental, but we need your support to cover additional costs such as ferry tickets and children’s meals. Furthermore, humanitarian action’s ultimate goal is to raise additional funds, as in past years, to provide children with the necessary equipment for sports and recreation,” reads their GoGetFunding description.
