Advent is the most popular winter event in Sinj, including a rich and varied program of local and diverse content for the special holiday season. Domestic and foreign tourists come to the city especially for this holiday event.
The program is full, with appearances by numerous bands, culinary treats, wine and beer evenings, playrooms for children, and many humanitarian actions which boosts the most important meaning of Christmas: to give back to humanity.
Festive programs are also sponsored by the City of Trilj and the municipality of Hrvace, Otok and Dicmo. Here, you will have the opportunity to enjoy performances by local culture clubs, numerous exhibitions of handicrafts, and try many products from local family farms and cooperatives. There will also be a number of exhibitions, educational workshops, performances and a children’s week organized by Association Cjelovit život.
A special feature this year is the Bethlehem light that will be lit in the Church of Our Lady of Sinj on 18 December, and then transferred to other local institutions. This is an excellent initiative adopted around the Croatian Republic.
During the holiday month there will holiday cottages fully equipped with sweets and mulled wine. There will also be irresistible local cuisine and typical dishes to serve during the cold winter days. Stands will be full with handicrafts and gifts for loved ones and tonight on the opening day, for St. Nicholas, there will also be Santa Claus.
Advent in Sinj begins on 6 December and runs through 7 January, 2017. The organizers are the City of Sinj, the Shrine of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj, Tourist Board of Sinj, and a number of other organizations.You can view the full program here.
