Advent in Sinj kicks off this weekend.
Advent is Sinj’s most popular winter event. Therefore, this year, the Tourist Board of Sinj has prepared a more vibrant, diverse and beautiful program for all visitors in the region to enjoy.
Namely, during this special holiday season, Sinj will offer their fellow citizens additional content with hopes to attract both domestic and foreign tourists to the city.
The Advent program in Sinj runs from December 2 to 31, 2017, and is organized by the City of Sinj, the Sinj Tourist Board, the Sinj Svetište and many other associations.
During the week, there will be unique gastro evenings, many theater performances and film evenings with unique themes and humanitarian actions, while numerous quality bands will perform on Fridays and Saturdays.
In the first week of Advent in Sinj, at the Alojzija Stepinca Promenade, the presentation of the commemorative programs will be organized under the auspices of the Dicmo, Hrvace, Otok and Trilj municipalities. On this occasion, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the performances of local KUDs, klapas, exhibitions of numerous handicrafts, and also experience the products of local OPGs and cooperatives.
The continuation of the Advent program will be followed by several educational workshops, plays, exhibitions, traditional performances of the Sinj Majorettes, concerts by City musicians, the Mixed Choir of Sinj and the Children’s Choir “Sinjski slavuji”, theater performances, as well as a children’s week organized by the Association of “Whole Life”. This year’s speciality is the “Snowmobile” designed and created by the active members of the Sinj Feral Association, with many amenities for all ages Visitors can also experience the lighting of the Advent candles on the Advent wreath which the members of the Association also helped to create. Ms Ljubica Grabovac donated the spruce and oak branches for its creation.
The arrival of the Bethlehem lights is an excellent initiative throughout the Republic of Croatia. This unique experience of communion will be felt through the burning of the Bethlehem lights on December 17, 2017, in the Church of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj.
For the duration of Advent in Sinj, at Alojzija Stepinca Promenade, there will be richly equipped Christmas homes with pastries, mulled wine and an overwhelming offer of local gastronomy for these colder winter days. There will also be houses with handicrafts and gifts for our youngest visitors. The Day of Sv. Nikola will be held on December 6, 2017, and Santa Claus will be the best gift to the children on December 23, 2017. On December 23rd, children will also be able to take photographs with Santa Claus, who will arrive in the carriage of the Ivković family this year.
For the outdoor New Year celebration, groups Uzbuna and Buđenje will lead the program.
