Sinj marks World Tourism Day.
On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, Sinj marked World Tourism Day at the Sikirica Gallery. The Sinj Tourist Board organized the event, in cooperation with the Sinj Cultural and Artistic Center, the Museum of the Cetina Region, and with the support of the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County, reports Ferata.hr on September 29, 2017.
By marking World Tourism Day, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) promotes a better understanding of tourism trends and the importance of sustainable tourism. The year 2017 was marked as the ‘International Year of Sustainable Tourism’ and was promoted under the slogan ‘Sustainable Tourism, a Tool for Development’. The Tourist Board of Sinj joined World Tourism Day with short promotional films entitled ‘Tradition in the Objective’.
In front of many guests, the commemorative program began with the introductory words of Monika Vrgoč, Director of the Tourist Board of Sinj and Vita Perić, Director of the Cultural Art Center. The program then continued with the premiere screening of documentaries created under the project ‘Tradition in the Objective’ by Rina Efendić, a media artist and photographer, realized in cooperation with the Cultural Center, the Tourist Board of Sinj, and the Museum of the Cetina Region, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
In addition to screening the short films, promotional films were presented through the cooperation of the Tourist Board of Sinj with videographer and photographer Ante Gugić, the Museum of the Cetina Region, the Ministry of Culture and the main carriers of the story, Ivan Knezović, Ivan Delaš and the Association Didi from Kamešnica. Their presentation aimed to point out the need to preserve the rich intangible and cultural heritage of the region to maintain the craftsmanship and the liturgy of the villages and to present them as important factors in protecting the identity of the Cetina Region.
For the entertainment part of the evening, a performance by Klapa KUD Vrilo delighted the audience.
“We sincerely thank everyone who helped us in the realization of this project,” said the Sinj Tourist Board.
