Have you ever tried a ‘morchella’ mushroom?
Mushroom lovers, rejoice! The City of Sinj and the mushroom association ‘Sunčanica’ in Sinj has prepared a special outing for you this weekend. The very first Sinj ‘Smrčkijada’ will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Sinj City Pool from 8:00.
The Smrčkijada event is a chance to gather everyone interested in the education, foraging and eating of edible mushrooms while socializing in good company out in nature. The event specializes particularly in ‘smrčci’, or ‘morchella’, the edible fungi that boasts a honeycomb appearance. The morchella is a prized possession of gourmet chefs around the world, and is particularly prevalent in French cooking. These wild morels are part of a multi-million dollar industry in North America, Turkey, China, the Himalayas, India, and Pakistan, where the prized fungi can be found in abundance. But lucky for you those of you in Sinj, you won’t have to travel far to get your hands on this tasty delight.
Everyone is invited to join Sunčanica and the Sinj Tourist Board in picking smrčci this Saturday!
