Sinj will again be the centre of the carnival festivities on February 2, 2016 – the second Carnival Festival of the Cetina Region (Smotra Mačkara) will take place in Sinj, reports Ferata.hr today.

The Sinj Deputy Mayor Zlatko Ugrin expressed his satisfaction with the last year´s festival, which was very popular among people of Sinj and Cetina region.

“These carnival processions are a long-term tradition and are a protected heritage by the list of intangible cultural heritage of Croatia. We believe, that this way, we maintain the tradition and use it to serve as a tourism attraction at the same time. Last year, around 70 photographers from all over Croatia visited Sinj on the Carnival Festival Day, this may be a prove enough.”

Ugrin says, that this year´s Festival will be even more interesting, as several Carnival associations will participate.

“There will be costumes from the Cetina region and there are even some announcements for other guests. Some 20 associations will participate, some with 20-30 members, others with 200. So, I expect to have around 1.000 participants at the Festival this year, said the Sinj Deputy Mayor Zlatko Ugrin.
