A documentary film Alka was awarded at the WorldMediaFestival in Hamburg.

The film was created in cooperation with the Croatian National Television and the Alka Knights Society from Sinj on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the victory over the Ottomans and the tradition of the Alka tournament, informs Dalmacija News.

The Alka film is a 70 minutes long documentary about the Ottoman siege of Sinj and the victory of his defenders. It includes some basic features of the Alka knight game and its importance for the local community, as well as its meaning in the national and European context. The film was made in just one year, during several visits to Sinj – during the Alka preparations, last year´s Bara, Čoja and Alka and the procession on the Feast of the Assumption.

More than 1200 extras were involved and although some 170 costumes were made, even several original Alka uniforms were used during the shooting. Props, weapons and wigs were borrowed from Prague and Milan.

Screenplay by Vladimir Brnardić, Krešimir Čokolić and Ivica Dleska, directed by Dražen Žarković, the film premièred in spring 2015.
