Five days of video screenings and meetings with the artist

The Flora Gallery in Dubrovnik adds one more art manifestation to the growing list of cultural events in town. The Croatian Association of Visual Artists Dubrovnik invited the multimedia artist and film director Goran Škofić for a residency programme, and he’s showing his work in the Flora Gallery from June 14 to June 25, 2017.

Born in Poreč, Škofić is a graduate of the Academy of Arts in Split who continued his research work through artist-in-residence programmes in France, Switzerland, Belgium, the US and Brasil. His work is regularly shown at exhibitions and festivals in Croatia and abroad, and this is his third exhibition in Dubrovnik.

Often using humour as a tool, the artist deals with universal topics such as social control, manipulation, and other absurdities that are part of contemporary life. Working with his own image or by inventing groups of characters, he creates imaginary situations to point to existing social problems, combining photography, film, video and multimedia installations.

Every evening from June 19 to June 23, one of Škofić’s video works will be screened in the Flora Gallery, followed by a meeting with the artist. The events take place from 9 to 11 PM daily.
