Commissioner Medović Adopts a New Decision on Temporary Financing

Dubrovnik’s political scene is everything, but boring. After the former mayor Vlahusić was denied right to run again as a mayor in the upcoming elections, the management of the city was entrusted to a commissioner named by the Croatian government, Nada Medović.

Medović has therefore announced the new temporary financing for for the period January – June 2017, as an addition to the decision for the first quarter.

The new financing measure is planned to be around 172 846 200 kuna that matches to total expenditures from the last year in the same period.
New measures include sufficient resources for all existing subsidy programs, Social program measures, city’s supplements to the pensions, grants for the kindergartens and primary schools, financing of the “Sports Facilities” public institution of Dubrovnik, civily society organizations and sports clubs.
Significant amount of the finances are envisaged for a regular maintenance of the public, traffic and green areas in the light of the upcoming tourist season and municipal waste removal due to the imminent closure and rehabilitation of Grabovica landfill.

Department of Municipal Services and Local Self-Government envisaged around 1 million Croatian kuna from the budget for the regular beach and maritime domain maintenance in accordance with the existing contract. For cleaning public areas and maintenance of green areas a total of 4.6 million is secured, while almost 3 million go to the maintenance of the roads. Waste removal continues to be co-financed by the City with an amount of 3,2 million kuna.

City of Dubrovnik with its new temporary financing measures also continues with the co-financing of the new Dubac cemetery with an amount of 5.1 million kuna.
Twelve cultural institutions founded by City of Dubrovnik are part of the priority plan which envisages around 3.726.800 kuna for their programs and maintenance.
New temporary financing provides funds for the completion of the Fallen Soldiers Memorial park in Komolac as well as as well as financing the interior design of Youth Center in the former Stadion hotel and taking care of the surrounding area of the school in Suđurađ on the Šipan island.
