Total Croatia News

Dubrovnik Development Agency, known as DURA, has once again successfully organized the 3rd Dubrovnik Hackathon (hack day, hackfest) in partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology Croatia and University of Dubrovnik.
First day of the Hackathon the young hackers participated in an iOS, Android and web application workshop as well as Artduino workshop. For the late bloomers, Artduino is an open source, computer hardware and software company and a community that designs and manufactures microconotroller kits for building digital devices and interactive objects that are able to control objects in the physical world.

Second and third day of Hackathon, participants had to develop their own smart technology idea in just 36 hours.

Future start-uppers and engineers organized in 6 groups were taught how to create a project using the Xcode, how to create network layers for the communication with web services, using the Interface builder for user interface (UI).

Winners of the 2017 editions are a group of young innovators (Tomislav Kulušić, Petar Čučuk, Antonio Šutalo i Marko Zelenković) known as Team PET (FIVE) who presented their original idea of creating a app and a website “Citizen Card” that enables communication between the citizens and the city administration. (Thank you, we need this!)

Dubrovnik Hackathon has once again proved as a great creative ideas generator in the digital world. First two Hackathons saw new companies forming and projects implementing in Dubrovnik, a city that needs to keep up with growing needs of tourism industry and catching up with new technological trends in the bigger cities.

Kudos to all teams and organizers!
