One of the more confusing things about life in Croatia is the food.
Don’t worry, the food is amazing, and I totally agree with Anthony Bourdain and his now infamous No Reservations show about Croatia when he was totally blown away by a cuisine he had never come across before.
But have you ever seen a Croatian restaurant in Croatia?
Dalmatian ones in Dalmalia, Slavonian in Slavonia, nad Istrian in Istria. But it is very rare that you will find a regional restaurant outside of its own region, let alone a Croatian restaurant celebrating its rich regional cuisine in one menu.
And so too with souvenir shops, particularly with food.
Until now.
Until now on Korcula.
A really lovely addition to the shopping scene in Korcula Town as just opened, directly opposite the irresistible cakes of Cukarin.
Okusi Hrvastke (The Taste of Croatia) has EVERYTHING, a superb collection of Croatia’s finest gourmet delicacies, from all over Croatia. From olive oil with gold leaf (above)…
to donkey salami from Istria.
One hears so much about the truffles of Istria, and you may well taste them in the restaurants of Korcula, but how about owning your own, or bringing back an ideal Croatian present for your foodie friends back home?
Oustanding wines, Slavonian sausage, Pag cheese – this is a true treasure trove of Croatian culinary goodness, all in one place, and with exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate staff. Whether you are searching for more knowledge about the gourmet majesty of this rich and diverse region, want to take home a memory of your Korcula stay or bring back attractively-packed, indigenous quality gifts from Croatia, this is a store for you.
Check out Okusi Hrvatske (The Taste of Croatia) store on your next visit to Korcula (see map below), or follow their story on Facebook.
