Great news for tourists visiting the island of Korčula.

A tourist clinic at the Korčula Health Centre was officially opened on 1 July. It will close on 31 August and it operates in two shifts, from 7 am to 2 pm, and from 2 pm to 9 pm, staffed by physicians Meri Mirčeta (Split) and Ivana Šolić (Korčula), and nurses Petra Radojković (Lovište) and Tea Đurašević (Vinkovci), reports Korcula.online on July 14, 2018.

In addition to these two teams, which also cover the municipality of Lumbarda, the Health Centre also has medical teams in field clinics in Smokvica, Orebić, Trpanj, and Kuna, says managing director Sebastijan Fabris, adding that all units, including the tourist clinic, have at their disposal all the equipment necessary to make visitors have a safe and pleasant stay on the island.

These two additional teams which cover the town of Korčula and the municipality of Lumbarda are jointly financed by, in addition to Dubrovnik-Neretva County, the town and the municipality. Each year during the summer months, Korčula and Pelješac welcome an increasing number of guests from Croatia and the world who, in addition to usual tourist services, also need medical care provided by the healthcare system, said Fabris. The opening of a tourist clinic can significantly improve the quality of healthcare services provided, since the local population has unhindered access to their physicians, while the tourists are taken care of in the best possible way.

Ivana Šolić said that the tourist clinic was not part of the Croatian Institute for Health Insurance (HZZO) system and that all services are charged according to the price list of the Korčula Health Centre. Exams mostly deal with minor injuries and pains, and there has been no need for emergency interventions because no lives were endangered.

While working at the local Emergency Medicine Department and a family clinic, young Dr. Šolić has already demonstrated her extensive medical knowledge. She noted that the Health Centre is equipped with the latest medical devices and offers a whole range of services, from specialist clinics to labs and emergency medicine, so patients can be quickly examined and receive instructions on how to alleviate their health problems.

Šolić explained that the opening hours of the tourist clinic are available at the Korčula Health Centre’s website. The tourist clinic teams in Korčula work in two shifts every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays when there is just one shift.
