Dino Dvornik’s music has raised many generations and marked the lives of all of us. So why not celebrate him?
If you know anything about Croatian music, you’re most likely familiar that Croatia’s ‘King of Funk’ was Dino Dvornik. A Split native who was not just a singer and songwriter, but also a producer, actor, and reality TV star, Dvornik is one of the most famous names in the history of Croatian music – and being the son of celebrated actor Boris Dvornik, known for his role in Naše malo misto, didn’t hurt either.
Dino Dvornik led an unconventional life, a life we’d imagine most superstars would live. A born entertainer, Dino was constantly evolving – from new hairdos to eclectic outfits. The sounds of James Brown and Stevie Wonder were the force behind his musical drive, and it wasn’t hard for Dino to earn the nicknames ‘King of Funk’ or ‘Funk Daddy’.

In the spotlight until his sudden death, Dino left the world at just 44 years old, though he left a legacy that would live on forever.
In Dino’s honor and as a way to celebrate the star’s birthday which is on August 20th, the Aj Cha festival will return for its second edition from August 16th.

The great party will begin on the Split Riva on Thursday, August 16th at 21:00 with Noa & Funkblasters spinning Dino’s hits and funk classics, followed by DJ Tabu.
To continue an already spectacular party, DJ Miro and Underground Control will lead a boat party into the magical night dedicated to the King of Funk, which will sail from the Riva on Thursday at 1:15 am. The festival devoted to Dino, conceived as a reminder of the great musician and his timeless music, does not end there. On the second day of the festival, Friday, August 17th, festivalgoers will have the opportunity to enjoy legendary Croatian punk band Psihomodo Pop at Bedem Cornaro, and Dubioza Kolektiv, the peak performance of the event, will promise an unforgettable experience on Saturday, August 18th.
